Sale of a Business
When we’re dealing with people who are selling their business, planning on selling their business, or in the midst of selling their business, there are typically two big challenges that we face with them. One, they don’t know if they’re selling it for enough money to ultimately satisfy their needs for the future, in terms of monetary needs. And then two, they are emotionally tied to the exercise of selling a business that they built from scratch typically, and they’re not sure if they’re selling to the right people, if their staff is going to be okay. There’s a lot of emotional stuff that’s coming up there, and actually, interestingly enough, a sense of loss in that they don’t know where they’re going to ultimately be going if they sell their business. That’s been their routine for 40 years, or 50 years, or whatever it is. So that’s a huge thing that we typically walk hand-in-hand with people on to kind of make sure that they’re emotionally okay with all these decisions and thoughtfully going to be okay, financially.
